Thanks for the comment, mbican. I think that somebody had mentioned that method earlier, but I never got around to trying it. I've since switched over to using Linux, and have just written a script that performs a backup the that i want it done.

I've found a very simple solution!
There is a posibility to backup to the network shared folder. You just have to make a folder on encrypted drive and share it. Then you can click "Save on a network..." button at Set up backup dialog and choose your own computer and your shared folder on encrypted disk.

Hey Heather, I have in fact found a workaround. It takes a bit of fiddling, but works really well. You can read about it at:

If you have any trouble with that, feel free to send me an email, and I'll try to help you out as best I can.

Hello Jon,

I have the same problem as you, and was wondering if you have found a solution to backing up to a True Crypt mounted drive. My Lenovo Backup software won't recognize a mounted true crypt drive either...

As for other backup packages, Acronis True Image has quite a following. The company seems to have a good understanding of VSS (look up their "instant restore" feature). The install is a bit too deep for my taste, though. I use it solely as an offline imaging tool.
